The Journey

The art of food aesthetics and nourishment was a no-brainer for me. I am Oluwaseun Odunlami, of African descent, born in Nigeria. Growing up, I was attracted to many skills, including sales, marketing, and cooking. Of all these, cooking came naturally and became an addiction. I fell in love with cooking while assisting my mother in the kitchen, where she soon realized a potential career was being groomed. Even though cooking was not initially considered a career, there was not a day in my parents' home that I did not cook. A day without cooking seemed incomplete.

Born Out Of Passion🍴

As time went on, it became obvious from my college days that I would venture into cooking. Initially, cooking was not seen as a business or a money-making venture for me. I simply enjoyed the satisfaction people got from their meals. The turning point came when I was to formally introduce my then-fiancé to my family. Instead of hiring a caterer for the large number of guests, I decided to prepare the food myself. The guests were so impressed with the meals that they urged me to consider cooking as a career. Without printed business cards, I executed jobs for over two years only through referrals from previous clients. With my husband's immeasurable support, what was initially a hobby turned into a dream career.

What Sets Us Apart🍴

The secret to the rapid growth of Beyond Tastee lies in several key factors: sourcing fresh ingredients daily, cooking delicious and finger-licking delicacies, recognizing and identifying food multiculturalism, incorporating customer feedback, and creating beautiful table setups. In Lagos, Beyond Tastee became known for its unique table setups and food plating designs, influencing many caterers. The growth of Beyond Tastee remains a mind-blowing phenomenon to this day.
To further my self-development, I attended the Arshbuton Culinary Institute in Devon, United Kingdom. There, I learned the skills and knowledge of various Continental and Oriental dishes, including Asian, French, and English cuisines. To impart my knowledge to others, I set up a culinary school in Nigeria where I conduct cooking classes.

Growth

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to set up a restaurant in a highbrow area in Lagos Nigeria called 'Beyond Tastee Eat In 2go Restaurant'. It offers breakfast, African, and Oriental menus. The restaurant started with about five staff members and has grown to over sixty employees, with more than twenty employees at the catering office. Catering outside Nigeria was not challenging due to my unique cooking style and my interest and knowledge in multinational cuisines. This placed me in a position of a skilled Continental and Oriental cuisine chef, then I knew it was time for global expansion. In 2023, the opportunity arose, to move to the United kingdom, This was a significant phase for the business as I saw it as a chance to take Beyond Tastee to the global stage, a long-held dream.

Expanding Horizons

A unique aspect of my work that sets me apart is recognizing food as an art and sourcing ingredients from multicultural and multinational markets. Ingredients for African cuisines are sourced from Africa, maintaining the native tastes of every dish. This approach applies to all multinational cuisines, providing clients with a lasting homely memory that ensures rebooking. My cooking style recognizes the cultural significance and diversity of food processing, going beyond the African heritage. This multicultural approach has made me stand out and attracted much attention in the United Kingdom. As an everyday activity, sustaining basic cooking skills has been a priority throughout my journey as a food enthusiast and entrepreneur. My cooking practices are multicultural, and I never compromise on standards. This approach has garnered significant attention and appreciation, ensuring a bright future for Beyond Tastee.
